Biography

Lazar Stojić was born in 1998 in Belgrade, Serbia. He graduated in 2021 in the class of Professors Mrdjan Bajić and Rados Antonijević at the sculpture department of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade. He is currently doing master studies in the class of Professor Martin Boyce at the sculpture department on Faculty of Fine Arts HFBK in Hamburg, Germany.

He participated in numerous group exhibitions and art projects in the country and abroad, among which stand out: the group exhibition “Real Presence” in the Magacin Kraljevića Marka space, “What will happen next” group exhibition as part of the Hfestival, “Inter/Action”, group exhibition in the Gallery Belgrade Youth Center and the first edition of the Youth Biennial. Lazar was part of the “Imagining Health” project, in cooperation with the Center for Health, Ethics and Society Research of the University of Hamburg, and of the project “Photography in Context”, which resulted in group exhibitions at the ICAT HFBK Gallery in Hamburg.

Lazar is the winner of the Award for the Artistic innovation from the Miloš Bajic Fund. Together with Bogdan Djukanović, he is the author of the sculpture that is permanently located in the hall of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade.

Lazar lives and works in Hamburg and Belgrade.

Artist statement

Lazar in his artistic practice works in the field of sculpture, art installation, printmaking and digital photography. The main subjects of his artistic research are relationships between artistic value and money, visual arts and design, between the natural and artificial.

Projects in public space
“Space in space” sculpture project by Bogdan Djukanović and Lazar Stojić for the 15th anniversary of FIST (Festival of international student theatre). Project was realized in collaboration with Department of Management and Production of Theatre, Radio and Culture of Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade, Serbia, during the year 2020.
Sculpture is permanently located in the main hallway of Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade.
