About exhibition
Exhibition titled "afternature" showcases works by artists from Serbia and the Netherlands brought together by ideas of spaces where the present and the future, the natural and the artificial, as well as memory and reality are intertwined. Exhibited pieces by Rob Bouwman, Slavica Dragosavac, Stevan Kojić, Nataša Kokić, Gijs Van Lith and Inge Schoutsen present a variety of reflections on the natural vs. the artificial, on what may be identified as human vs. what appears as digital.
Given that modern art is in fact a space that provides a starting point for an endless variety of thought for all of us, the exhibition Afternature may serve as “further readings” that offers a myriad of comprehensions. Namely, the exhibited works provide an opportunity for different interpretations and perceptions that are rooted in our own personal histories, convictions and feelings, in our individual stance towards the present and the future, towards the natural and the artificial. In addition, a number of works also deals with the relation between the individual and the newest – as well as not so new – technology. Offered perceptions are presented by means of a glossary comprised of associations and references. Those associations may help understand the work in question, as much as they can provide a key for an entirely new, personal interpretation. In a world oversaturated with information as it is, these referenes are but a number amongst a million of possible avenues
